Thank you for your interest in being a Table Captain for Founders Dinner 2018! By bringing together friends, family, and colleagues for this lovely evening of connection and community, you will be supporting ConnecT1D's effort to enhance the lives of those with Type 1 Diabetes.
Table Captains commit to filling a table with generous guests and help us extend our reach to allies and champions of the Type 1 Diabetes community. We appreciate your support in reaching out to guests who are energized to help make our ConnecT1D Family Camp a reality for over the 250 children & families members who will attend Camp in October.
While there is no cost to attend the event, we are aiming for a minimum contribution per guest of $250 (the value of a child scholarship to Family Camp) and ask that you set a goal for your table. Encourage your guests to join you at the $250 level or invite them give more if they can.
Table Captain Commitment:
Table Captains sign up and pledge how many seats you will fill for the dinner--a half (you + 5/6) or full (you + 10/11) table.
Invite your friends, family, or colleagues as guests at a wonderful three-course dinner and encourage them to plan to make a gift to ConnecT1D at the event.
Table Captain Toolkit
Now that you are registered as a Table Captain, here are some tools to help you invite guests who will join you as a champion for children with Type 1 Diabetes and their families:
1) INVITE YOUR GUESTS
Insert this Founders Dinner Invitation directly into your email or a social media message to give guests key details.
Make the Case:
Tell your guests about Family Camp. Share why you are passionate about ConnecT1D or what the power of social connection & support for T1D children and families means to you. Let your guests know how much their support matters to the health and well-being of a community you deeply care about.
A few tips:
Overask, and make contact right away. Make a list of Champions and figure out the best way to contact them. Need some help with what to say? Click the button above for some sample emails and language.
A follow up call or email can help get people’s attention in our busy lives and let them know you’re thinking of them specifically with your invitation
Personalize your message to reflect your style and your relationship with each person you invite. And remember, your story often means as much to your friends and colleagues as it does to you.
Remember, there is no cost to attend the dinner but guests will be asked to make a donation during the event. Gifts can be made as pledges and paid out over a year in monthly, quarterly or bi-annual installments. For example, a pledge of $250 means a monthly payment of only $20 and change.
2) REGISTER YOUR GUESTS BY APRIL 1ST
As your guests RSVP to you, gather key contact details (address, phone, email) and register them with ConnecT1D so we can hold their spot, request their dietary needs, and send event updates.
3) ENGAGE YOUR GUESTS LEADING UP TO THE EVENT
Email/Text/Phone reminders leading up to the event, keep Founders Dinner on their minds in the busyness of daily life. For example, you could Google "type 1 diabetes meme" for greater engagement and ConnecT1D flavor.
Challenge your guests to make an impact: Share your giving plans or set a giving goal for your party to rise towards.
4) MAKE SURE YOUR GUESTS CAN GET TO THE DINNER
Traveling to a new location for an event can be stressful. Help ensure a smooth evening for your guests by sending a reminder email one week before the event. Click here to see a sample reminder email or make sure your communications include details on how to get to the Talaris Conference Center at 4000 NE 41st Street, Seattle, WA 98105. Remember, there is free parking on-site.
5) ENJOY THE EVENING!
Once you and your guests have arrived, relax and enjoy an evening of great conversation, delicious food, and wonderful company as we celebrate how ConnecT1D has grown, the leaders who made it all happen and the future of Family Camp!
