Now Online!

(And Easier Than Ever to Participate)

7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Thank you for your interest in being a Table Captain for Founders Dinner 2020! By bringing together friends, family, and colleagues for this lovely evening of connection and community, you will be supporting Camp Leo + ConnecT1D's effort  to enhance the lives of those with Type 1 Diabetes.

Our commitment to the community is to never turn away a child or family member from a needed program for financial reasons, and Founders Dinner is one of the main ways we are able to raise funds for our Scholarship Fund so we can meet this commitment.  With the challenges of this year, the need for this funding has never been more important, as we expect a dramatic increase in participation in 2021 when we anticipate programs to begin meeting again in person.

Table Captains commit to filling a “table” at Virtual Founders Dinner with generous guests and help us extend our reach to allies and champions of the Type 1 Diabetes community.

Table Captain Commitment:

  • Table Captains register and pledge how many persons you will bring to the event.

PLEASE REGISTER AS A TABLE CAPTAIN BY EMAILING EXEC@CONNECT1D.ORG.

    1. Invite your friends, family, or colleagues as guests encourage them to plan to make a gift to Camp Leo + ConnecT1D in advance and/or at the event (please see below for sign up options).

Table Captain Toolkit

Now that you are registered as a Table Captain, here are some tools to help you  invite guests who will join you as a champion for children with Type 1 Diabetes and their families:

1) make the case

  • Find your community of support and ask them to join you for an amazing evening! Direct them to  connect1d.org/foundersdinner where they can find additional event information (or give a gift in absence).

  • Tell your guests about your experience with  Adult Retreat, Summer Camp, or Family Camp.  Share why you are passionate about Camp Leo + ConnecT1D or what the power of social connection & support for the T1D community means to you. Let your guests know how much their support matters to the health and well-being of a community you deeply care about.

A few tips:

  • Overask, and make contact right away. Make a list of Champions and figure out the best way to contact them. Need some help with what to say? Click the button above for some sample emails and language.

  • A follow up call or email can help get people’s attention in our busy lives and let them know you’re thinking of them specifically with your invitation

  • Personalize your message to reflect your style and your relationship with each person you invite. And remember, your story often means as much to your friends and colleagues as it does to you

  • Remind your guests that Founders Dinner is one of the main ways we are able meet our commitment to never turn away a child or family member from a needed program for financial reasons, and that we anticipate a big jump in attendance in our programs (and an increase in scholarship requests) when we can meet in person again.

2) Remind your Guests to Register

  • There have been some changes in how guests register for Founders Dinner this year.  Most guests will purchase tickets in advance, starting at a $50 per person event only ticket (there is also a $250 }Send A Kid To Camp” Ticket, as well as an option to give other amounts).  Tickets can be purchased online using the direct link below (or found also at connect1d.org/foundersdinner).

  • For event sponsors and registered Table Captains, there is also an option for you to sign up your invited guests without an advance ticket purchase.* This option is for those who want to organize a table and submit all of the guest names and meal preferences at one time. Once you have registered with exec@connecT1D as a Table Captain, you can use the following link to sign up your guests.

*Please note: At Founders Dinner, there will be a portion of the program where we will ask guests for additional donations to help us support our Scholarship Fund. While anyone who supports the cause is welcome to attend Founders Dinner, we are aiming for a contribution per guest of $250 (the value of a child scholarship to Family Camp) and ask that you set a goal for your table. Encourage your guests to join you at the $250 level or invite them give more if they can.

3) let your guests know about our event “break out” activity options

During this year’s online event, there will be a portion of the evening when we break off into “break out” activities for a little fun and connection. One activity will be a wine tasting experience featuring wines from Northwest Cellars, and those guests who wish to participate in this activity are asked to add-on the purchase of a “wine tasting kit” for $20 per kit (for four 2-ounce pours) during registration. So make sure your guests are aware of this activity and the need to purchase the add-on in order to participate. The other activity being offered as a break-out option is a fun “camp games” experience. You can’t go wrong with which ever activity you choose!

4) ENGAGE YOUR GUESTS LEADING UP TO THE EVENT

  • Email/Text/Phone reminders leading up to the event, keep Founders Dinner on their minds in the busyness of daily life. For example, you could Google "type 1 diabetes meme" for greater engagement and Camp Leo + ConnecT1D flavor.

  • Challenge your guests to make an impact: Share your giving plans or set a giving goal for your party to rise towards.

5) Make sure your guests can get to the dinner

Now that Founders Dinner is virtual, it’s easier than ever for people to join in the fun. Once your guests have been confirmed and engaged and are excited about the event, make sure a day or two before the event that your invited guests have received a link to join online. Click here to see a sample reminder email.

6) ENJOY THE EVENING!

Once you and your guests have “arrived” online, relax and enjoy an evening of great conversation and wonderful company as we share our stories and accomplishments of 2020 and get excited about the future of our 2021 (and beyond) programs!
