Adult Meetup - The Body Lives Its Undoing

  • The Pacific Science Center- Ackerly Gallery, North Entrance 200 second Ave North Seattle, WA 98109 (map)

To process and heal from a disease is a deeply personal journey that every person deals with uniquely. Join Pacific Science Center and Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason for an evening reception featuring a reading of The Body Lives its Undoing, a poetry and visual art reflection on autoimmune diseases and the impact it has on those living with them. Engage in an interactive program featuring poet and parent Suzanne Edison, Benaroya Research Institute researchers, and artists, physicians, patients and caregivers as they share their perspectives on the world of autoimmunity. Beverages included in the cost of your ticket. (tickets can be purchased here or at the door)

If you want to share your own or hear the stories of other people living with Type 1 diabetes or do some writing and reflecting of your own before, meet us at nearby Caffe Vita (813 5th Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109) between 5:30 and 6:40 and we'll walk over together at 6:45. We'll be posting some writing prompts leading up to the event and will also have some at the coffee shop for people to reflect with or take home. You can keep your writing for yourself or opt to share it with those of us who are present (or we can share it to the greater Connect1D community).
