Come learn, laugh, share concerns and get advice about diabetes' various effects on relationships that you (and surprisingly many others with T1D) might not feel comfortable discussing.

ConnecT1D and Cassady Kintner are pleased to announce a three part Type 1 Diabetes and Relationships Workshop taking place in the fall of 2015. 

Dates: Saturday, August 15, 2015, Saturday, September 26, 2015 and Saturday, November 7, 2015

Time: 1:00 - 2:30 PM
Audience: T1Ds and their partners
Cost: $0 (but donations are welcome)

Workshop 1: Giving Dating a Shot: August 15

  • Emotional / physical considerations for gearing up to get “out there”
  • When and how to talk with a potential partner about T1D
  • The importance of owning your T1D and reasons why it might actually make you awesome

 Workshop 2: Sharing the Sweet Life: September 26

  • How to handle diabetes as a team
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Increasing relationship satisfaction

 Workshop 3: Menage a Trois, Bringing Diabetes into Bed: November 7

  • Complications and sex
  • Strategies for creating and maintaining a healthy sex life

The Diabetes and Relationships Workshops will be facilitated by Cassady Kintner and offered in partnership with ConnecT1D.

Cassady Kintner is a marriage and family therapist who has had Type 1 Diabetes for more than 20 years and knows what it is like to live with the unique challenges of T1D. Cassady has specialized training in Medical Family Therapy and a private practice where she counsels individuals, couples and families dealing with chronic illness.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

We request that attendees be over the age of 18. 

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is limited parking at the Phinney Neighborhood Associaiton. We recommend biking or taking Metro (route 5) if you are able to do so.
