Is there a cost for me to attend Family Camp as a volunteer?
In exchange for your time and energy to make Family Camp a positive experience for Type 1 Families, we will provide you with lodging and meals throughout the weekend. While there is no cost to volunteer at Family Camp, we welcome donations to help cover your room and board. If you can, please consider donating $10, $25, or $50 to help us put on the event!
When do I need to be at Camp?
Event Registration opens at 5pm on Friday September 30th. We will need some event volunteers to help set up that afternoon and/or help staff registration for arriving families. All volunteers (counselors and event volunteers) must be at the Camp and ready to attend a mandatory Volunteer onsite meeting Friday evening at 7pm. Counselors must remain at camp throughout the entire weekend (cannot leave campus during the event) until the end of our last event on Sunday afternoon. Limited exceptions may be made, please contact us at email@example.com if needed.
Where will I be staying? What about meals?
We have a variety of volunteer housing at Family Camp! Most junior counselors and counselors will be in bunkhouses with adult chaperones. We have limited dormitory housing and group house options available as well. We can accommodate all disabilities. If you have specific housing needs, please let us know.
All food, linens, and towels will be provided. Meals begin Saturday morning, so plan to eat dinner before your arrival on Friday. All meals will be gluten free. Volunteers will have access to additional snacks in rooms.
What will my duties be at camp?
Junior Counselors (ages 13-15) and Counselors (ages 16-18) will be on a team with a Lead Counselor (ages 18+) to oversee a specific age group of children for activity sessions during camp while parents are in education sessions. These Counselor Teams will help with team building among campers, facilitate fun activities, and make sure everyone is safe. Some Counselors may be needed to assist with preparation or staffing of all-family events as well during the weekend. More details will be provided at training.
Event Volunteers will not have a specific group of campers to oversee, but will help with other needs at camp such as registration, event setup, and logisitics support.
